Crops grown on the Estate include wheat, spring barley, sugar beet, oilseed rape and winter beans. Some land is let out to a local vegetable grower, mainly for potatoes, carrots and onions. Around 50ha is used to grow a variety of Organic vegetables.
Managing the land for wildlife is also important, the Estate is in a 10-year Higher Level Stewardship agreement, and is also inspected annually for Red Tractor and LEAF certification. Summer grazing is carried out on the wet meadows by our own small herd of cattle.
